x-plode
This series utilizes visual hyperbole as digital transformation tool. Building upon a personal photograph, a unique 3D filter that sculpts the image is used : light parts of the image explodes outward, while shadows plummet into depth, creating a sense of fractured reality. Inspired by Mircea Eliade’s exploration on the sacred and profane, the ordinary is transformed into vessels for the unseen. This works capture the breakthrough moments when the sacred pierces the veil of the mundane, infiltrating the familiar with the extraordinary, while tearing the surface of the photograph.
